The Connecticut Environmental Review Team is currently run by one coordinator and one program assistant out of our Haddam Office.
Elaine Sych is the Coordinator for the Connecticut Environmental Review
Teams and is responsible for bringing together Team members from a wide
range of environmental, planning and land management professions. As ERT
Coordinator, Elaine oversees all aspects of the environmental review
process, including liaison with municipal boards and governments,
conduct of field investigations, development of concise reports, and post-review evaluations. With over twenty years of experience, Elaine
has been successful in advancing informed land management decisions and
sound environmental practices.
Elaine began her career as the Eastern Connecticut ERT Coordinator in
1985. She assumed responsibility for the entire state by also becoming
the ERT Coordinator for the King’s Mark RC&D Area in 1991.
Elaine is a graduate of the Southern Connecticut State University with a
BS degree in Geography and attended graduate school, also in geography,
at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has a broad
background in land use and environmental planning and has a strong
interest in promoting outdoor education. Over the years, Elaine has
completed numerous continuing education courses and seminars offered
through the University of Connecticut, the Connecticut Department of
Environmental Protection, and the Connecticut Department of
Transportation. She is a certified Master Gardener and a recent
participant in the Land Use Leadership Alliance (LULA) Training Program.
In
her free time, Elaine enjoys the outdoors with her husband and two young
children, gardening, kayaking and exploring the natural world.
Amanda Fargo-Johnson is the Program Assistant
for the Connecticut Environmental Review Team. She started working for the ERT in January
2005. Amanda's role is to assist the ERT Coordinator. She
also designs and maintains the ERT website, does any GIS
mapping for the office, she takes care of the the gps field work on ERT reviews, as well as she takes care of publication
materials.
Amanda attended the University of Connecticut where she
received a dual degree in Natural Resources and Landscape Architecture
in 2001. Amanda continues to pursue her interests in issues
affecting our environment by attending workshops and seminars.
Amanda resides in Eastern CT
with her husband, son and their two dogs. In her spare time,
Amanda enjoys spending time with her family and friends, being involved in her church, the outdoors, gardening, going to the beach, and
loves to travel.
