How do I know if I can request a review?

You may request a review if you are a chief elected official of a municipality, the chairman of an administrative agency such as planning and zoning, inland wetlands, conservation, economic development, parks and recreation, or a town appointed special committee dealing with natural resource issues.  There are exceptions when the superintendent/principal of schools, the president of a land trust, a tribal leader, a Girl Scout or Boy Scout Council, or a state agency may request a review for a natural resource inventory/open space/recreation review.

In the case of a development proposal, it is recommended that the agency with the permitting power be the agency making the request for a review. It is best to request an ERT prior to the official submission of a project or as soon as possible thereafter to allow ample time for a study. The process from request to final report may take up to 3 months or longer. The earlier in the process the ERT gets involved the easier it is to meet all deadlines. The ERT will not be used as a delaying tactic.

Private citizens, citizens groups, engineers, and developers may not request an ERT
